Rules and Regulations of Street Handball


Rules and Regulations of Street Handball

Players:
- 4 Outfielders & 1 Goal Keeper

Duration:
- 7 minute per halves, 1 min break
- No half time called by Team

Before starting:
- No hard objects: jewellery, watches etc
- Nails should be well kept and short

Starting the game:
- Coin Toss to determine team to choose goal area & 1st to start throw-off


Throw- off:
- Start from Centre Line with players in their halves
- Player with the ball, steps on centre line with 1 foot and passes off to own mates upon whistle.

Throw-ins:
- Thrower to step on side-line/corner before throwing in
- Awarded to opposite team who last touched the ball before the crossed the sideline
- Awarded to Goal keeper when the ball crosses the his goal line
- Opponents may not be closer than 2 meters to the thrower

Footwork:
- 3 steps
- Dribbling allowed (cannot ‘control’ ball)
- Catching ball in air, landing foot/feet considered as zero step

Goal Line (6 m):
- Goal Area = No man’s land; except goal keeper
- Step out immediately after shooting or accidentally entering
- Shots in when stepping on line are not counted

Free throws (9m):
- On the spot where a minor foul is committed by defender, as given by referee

Fouls:
- Off-hand. Exception: flick off upwards
- Tackling from behind <= ONLY FRONTAL DEFENSE IS ALLOWED
- Endangering Shooter who is already in the air
- Charging (By attacker)
- Necking during a tackle/dangerous tackling
- Foul Language or behaviour

Penalty and Penalty Shots:
- Given when defenders commit a foul on attacking shooter, denying an obvious scoring chance.
- Taken at tip of Goal Line. After referee's whistle.
- Shooter cannot step across the goal line before releasing the ball.
- Rest of players should be at least 2m away from shooter.

2mins suspension:
- Given when a heavy foul or repeated fouls are committed
- When there are more than 5 players of the same team on court (Substitution)

Other rules:
- Passive play:
0 Team intentionally stalls time
0 Individual player hols on to ball too long

- Substitution
o Rolling substitution allowed
o Taken at substitution area
o Only 5 players allowed per team.
If new player enters court before substituted player leaves > 6 outfield players : both substituting and substituted player are suspended 2 mins
